the weather bear

I am going to address two films today and that means that Im not going to spend absurd amounts of time on either. I believe a thing called love.
The Dark Knight (TDK as many are calling it)
This movie was spectacular! I read the round table on BSR after I saw the movie and I was even more deeply moved by the pure beauty of their foul mouths spitting and spouting out socio-economic themes and the pure sadistic spirit of the film. I loved the first one, but I did not go home and look up pictures of Christian Bale in the tight bat outfit. But I did go do that after this one. Heath Ledger was the pure embodiment of everything that is pure and evil. Its the basest nature of man: survival of the fittest in a civilized world rings true to every town, school, government, career, and highway. What are we all vying for? Respect? Acknowledgment? Money? Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Prestige, Batman Begins) takes the director's chair while his brother humbly assumes the co-writer position, but the pure madness and dimentia that one must assume to head up such a magnificent project is genius. I dont want to give anything away, but I must assume that everyone has seen it. If you havent, stop right now and go purchase a ticket. If its too late then purchase one online for tomorrow.
I felt like Batman was not center stage in this bout of theatrics, but took a backseat to both Bruce Wayne and his internal tantrums, and the malevolent, chaotic mind of The Joker (in no particular order). The key characters had ample time onscreen to persuade the audience of their intentions, but the story was dark. Dark enough to scare the living shit out of a grown man. Im not going to lie and say that my mouth wasnt gaping open when The Joker did the disappearing pencil trick. Im not going to lie and say I wasnt laughing right along with The Joker. Im not going to lie and say I wasnt as angry as Batman, yet forced to confine whatever injustice I might desire upon his nemesis. Im not going to lie because I was all of those things and more.
And then the Two Face/Harvey Dent turn had me shielding my eyes like a sissy at Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I know that Batman was like "Et tu, Brute?" roughly translated means son of a bitch are you seriously a bad guy now...damnit. And can you blame him?
Step Brothers
People are saying that this movie is just ridiculous and retarded. I say "Yay!" Do people forget what happens when John C. and Will F. get together? Its fireworks baby. Now I havent seen You Dont Mess with the Zohan, but I am gonna say that this movie was the funniest one this year. That SOB Will is pretty freaking consistent, and that says a lot about his badassness.
This movie you have to just let the movie take you. You cant think about it. You cant think about how retarded the premise is. Just feel it. Thats all Im going to say about that.

I am going to see the Zohan tonight so check back yo.

Forecast for tomorrow: Washed out sunshine with a smidge of melancholy (the move not the mood)

new Sunglasses

Now that the Dark Knight is terrorizing the neighborhoods, by the way I will make a seperate blog on that whole matter, I saw a couple of other movies that were notable.
The Strangers
Liv Tyler and some guy (Scott Speedman) star in this film. I actually kind of liked the absence of story at the beginning. The writer didnt really care about what happened before just what was happening now. Unfortunately it was as predictable as watching a rerun of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. I think the best part of this movie was the previews. Quantum of Solace is going to be harder, faster, stronger, and now that Daniel Craig is a Bond vet he is just getting better. Its gonna kick my balls off.
Hancock
I was not impressed with this movie. I like Will. I love Charlize. I like the other guy (Jason Bateman, I know hes funny, havent I seen "Arrested Development"). I guess I have no one to blame but myself. The writers are no namers and Peter Berg (Very Bad Things, The Rundown, Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom) is spinning on an out of control descent. Friday Night Lights was the worst movie I have ever seen. I absolutely hate it. This is the only movie that I actually think less of the person who enjoyed it, or who even sat through it. I could barely sit through 30 minutes of this steamy pile. He did a decent job on Hancock, but I dont know how long his talent is going to last.

Go eco/green

Are you really green? Are ya? A lot of people think that they are so eco conscious and they are single handedly taking on the ever more disputed feared villain that is Global Warming, but a lot of Green companies say the term "eco-friendly" or "green" have been watered down due to the shitty capitalists and marketers that continually hack away at this nations free market economy making it just a trendy term. Mainstream BS.
1. Who says that the Green companies are the ones who make the rules
2. Sadly green has stripped away any other color's dignity and is self declared King of the colors
3. Here is a newsweek article that says you arent doing enough
4. Why arent there any green video games
There has been a release of green criteria. What makes a company green? I guess it would be those companies that are putting back into the environment exactly what they take out, but isnt that disturbing the environment anyways?
Well under the criteria a company must minimize negative impacts to cultural heritage and maximize benefits (Clause C). And to further explain that in Section 4 of clause 3 it states that the business uses elements of local art, architecture, or cultural heritage in its operations, design, decoration, food, or shops; while respecting the intellectual property rights of local communities.
Granted this is just a quick snippet of the criteria, but it seems they want the consumer to keep it local as well as any businesses. No more mangos for you Canadians. No more bananas for you Americans. No more coffee for Starbucks.
Keep it local or you cant say that you are "going green" or "reducing your carbon footprint"

How bout we all calm down

Ive been on hiatus, and I am truly sorry. But croonies.com is gonna get a facelift here soon. I have dragged my eyes across thousands of pages on the internet. I have typed address after address to discover what is waiting out there for me. I have come across some dirty things, but today I came across some interesting things:
Somehow this company gives three teams of three or so people between the ages of 18-28 a 36' Green RV, a camera, and some people to interview, and sets them on their way. They produce a show on PBS by the same name and encourage each of us to go our own path. The manifesto states "As a generation, we need to get back to focusing individuality. Self-construction rather than mass production. Define your own road in life instead of traveling down someone else's. Listen to yourself." Which is what we are all trying to do; however, it seems a little melodramatic to me. First off why the GREEN rv? Appeal to the green generation if such a thing exists. Second is the proposed improvisation of the whole thing. Life is pretty crappy and uneventful, so if they want to be real then show how long it really is just driving through Kansas.
A relatively new Ultra HD camera that captures raw footage with the ability to pre-process the footage while easily upholding 1080p. Its a super camera, and every component (viewfinder, battery, lense, LCD viewer, storage, housing, etc) except the body is an accessory. I love the idea because its sophisticatedly simple.
An online yard sale, university, housing directory, jobsearch, and escort service all in one. And what makes it even better is its free.
I also looked at myspace.
If you want to know what I want to turn croonies into check out Roosterteeth and Big Shiny Robot. Those sites are pretty freakin cool.
